Don't know if Nvidia can fix this with newer drivers.

Probably the only way to have it play for me now is to update to a newer build, which I won't do. Why the hell do they block unknown (to them) hardware anyway? It seems they block stuff unless it's explicitly approved by PowerDVD.

As of now you aren't having much trouble, but as DLaD said, you are one of the lucky ones, as there were some not having much trouble with earlier TMT builds.Įven the build, that's supposed to be one of the more stable/less buggy ones, doesn't wanna play in Win 7 with Nvidia 185 drivers in my laptop.
PowerDVD with 7.3 and the earlier 8 builds started off pretty much all right, and shortly after started going downhill, to the point in which the latest builds now resemble the earlier builds of TMT, crashes, blatant bugs and all. The first builds of TMT were atrocious and would have very obvious bugs and many times woulnd't even run or crash constantly.
It seems to me PowerDVD and TMT are going in opposite directions. My advice was a little light in this area because I guess I'm a little spoiled in that all my machines are quads (except the NB) and I didn't think about that. PowerDVD is power hungry so if you are running minimums it will be a problem. There was a problem with AnyDVD once but a beta fixed that issue a while back. I have heard that other people have had some issues with powerdvd but it has worked fine on my desktop and the problem went away when I upgraded to my new NB. I don't know if they are actively trying to block slysoft software, but they sure worked hard to help me.Ĭyberlink did have a problem with the sound via HDMI that they fixed with the first patch that they put out while we working on my issues. Once that was figured out everything works fine goingt to my HDTV via a 7.1 surround system using HDMI. The only problem that I had after that was some movies that wanted to do BDLive. I ended up selling that NB and buying a more current one and it worked fine. My problem ended up being that the notebook that I was trying to get it to work on was just barely in the minimum requirements category. Unfortunately version 9 doesn't have too many options (builds) out, and they aren't too different from what I've seen.Īt the risk of starting an argument here, the tech people at cyberlink worked with me for almost a month getting things right. I guess it's better to say find one that works for you, and stick with that one.

Recently I tried the 2815 build of PowerDVD 8, and I couldn't even get it to play on the PC that I could install it.
I couldn't get PowerDVD 9 to even run at first, and after that I couldn't set audio options, crashes, etc, so I returned it. PowerDVD 9 didn't have the luxury of being alive at that time, so all builds of PowerDVD 9 actually have similar bugs as their contemporaneous builds of 7.3 and 8 (and then some, it seems). The point is that Cyberlink since after the releases and have consistently with each build "update" been breaking features, actively breaking compatibility with Slysoft products, and introducing bugs. The current latest one may work for you, but others still have trouble. Using "the latest" PowerDVD whatever version is not good advice.
